This is an excellent quality French white ironstone compote dish, dating from the mid 20th Century.
It is hard to source these beautifully shaped bowls in plain white ironstone. This one, sourced from France, is in excellent condition. They are great for use as a kitchen centrepiece, for fruit like lemons or as a large dessert bowl.
This compote has a simple, classic shape. The base is slightly taller than most examples, giving the compote a nice proud standing position. It bears a mark for the French brand, Tradition CNP, which dates this piece to the 1960s.
It is in mint condition, with no cracks, crazing or chips and just some odd surface marks from use. The base rim has some minor wear from use and there are also some firing marks in places, although overall it is a very clean example.
