A versatile, useful and decorative antique French cooling rack with looped border.
Dating from the early 20th Century, this cooling rack is a great piece of antique kitchenalia to have in the home. Although it is simple in style, this example is rarer than most examples you will find with a looped border. This was designed to stop cooling cakes from falling off the edges.
Although the looped edge has seen better days and has unraveled somewhat, it is nonetheless still a lovely decorative feature. If desired, it could be undone and reworked to make it more sturdy and even looking. As it is, it is a little bent and has uneven levels so is unlikely to be too effective as stopping cakes toppling.
In overall fair condition, there is some minor oxidisation to the main wirework base plus some of the supporting feet have bent a little. However, it is still reasonably sturdy and can certainly be used still.
Great for ongoing use as a cake stand, but this rack would also look great displayed as part of a kitchenalia collection or adding a touch of French Brocante style to your home.
