This is a charming vintage early to mid to 20th Century French butter brick mould.

More than likely a bespoke piece, produced for a small holding, this is a delightful decorative piece which is also ideal for adventurous cooks to use in forming their own butter.

With a nice decoration featuring a chalet and forest, it’s likely to originate from the Alpine regions of France. The mould also shows the size of any blocks of butter made in it - 250 grams in French metric measurement.

With its rustic patina, this would look beautiful simply sat proudly on display to give a rustic touch to your interior kitchen styling. There is a crack at one end of the mould, which has been repaired, but the decoration is unaffected by this and the piece is stable. There is also general wear to the wood. But this adds to the general rustic charm of the piece. There is also a hook at one end to hang on display.
