Vintage French Bread Platter

A nice example of a vintage French bread platter, featuring a decorative border.

Ideal for display and also serving up freshly baked bread, this vintage French bread plate is in fair condition for its age. Featuring a carved motto around its border - Donnez Nous Notre Pain De Ce Jour, which translates to 'Give Us Our Daily Bread' - this platter also stands out in the detail of the wheat across the bottom half of the plate.

This board was produced as a tourist piece in the mid 20th Century. Made of resin, rather than carved from wood, the bottom section of the wheat includes the town name 'Lourdes' where this would have been available for sale. 

It is a heavy and durable piece and is therefore in very good condition still. The top coating of varnish has worn in some places, most notably on some of the lettering and on the back, thereby exposing the resin. But this isn't substantial.
