This is a fantastic example of a rarely seen preserve pot which was created to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953.
In lovely timeworn condition, this piece was commissioned by renowned English marmalade producers, Frank Cooper, to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. It has a mark for the Sandland factory on its base.
The pot has light crazing all over, mixed with some coffee coloured staining in places, which adds a natural aged look. There are also some light scuff marks to the edge of the lid. But there are no chips or cracks, and the imagery of the Royal cypher on both the front and back of this piece, as well as on the lid, is still very clear with beautiful colouring. The gold trim to the lid is also still fully in tact.
