Vintage English White Ironstone Lidded Butter Dish by Grimwades

A nice example of a vintage lidded white ironstone cheese or butter dish, dating from the mid twentieth Century.

Bearing a mark for Grimwades on its base, the piece dates to 1964. It is a lovely versatile piece which shows off the durability of ironstone, as it is in excellent order. 

Both the lid and base are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some mildly stained crazing to the base dish, no doubt from years of use holding butter. There is also some crazing to the inside of the lid, and some wear to the rims.

The lid measures 15.5cm long by 12.7cm wide.
