Dating from the mid 20th Century, these wonderful stoneware dummy eggs are a perfect display piece. They were used in chicken coops to encourage hens to lay more eggs.
They were often branded with the maker’s name for advertising purposes, and in this case they carry the Eltex brand, although this has now faded on them all
Available to purchase individually, all of the eggs show signs of use with some scuffs and scratch marks. But they are generally clean examples. Considering their age and use, it's remarkable they have survived, especially as these are hollow examples.
Rough Dimensions of each egg:
Length, 6.5cm
Width, 4.5cm
