Very Rare Antique Victorian Miniature Carved Butter Board
Very Rare Antique Victorian Miniature Carved Butter Board
An excellent example of a very rare tiny carved wooden butter dish, dating from the late Victorian period from the renowned Wing makers.
This carved wooden butter dish is the smallest you can come across, measuring just 10cm in diameter. The company Wing was most famous for its carved breadboards, but they also produced a complimentary range of carved tableware pieces. These smaller butter boards were known as Bachelors Butter Plates, their smaller size perfect for one person.
This is a lovely carved example, the 'Butter' in stylised gothic topography and flanked by two wheat ears. It's in excellent condition and has a rich, honey coloured patina. It is a highly collectible and very rarely seen piece of antique kitchenalia.
