A charming and naturally timeworn antique 19th Century French large confit pot, which is a fantastic rustic piece for the home. A French country piece, it would have been used for preserving different oils or wine in a countryside property.

The combination of the yellow glazed top section of the pot dripping down onto the terrcotta of the bottom half is a classic provencal style, epitomised in Van Gogh's sunflowers picture. The yellow glaze on this example has suffered damage and has come away, chipped and been painted over in places. But this adds a unique timeworn charm to this example.

As decorative pieces of homeware, these pots are always in high demand. They add a rustic charm to a kitchen as a utensil pot, or look great used for display purposes anywhere in the home.

Aside from the wear to the glaze both inside and outside the pot, potentially from being burnt, this pot is otherwise in very stable condition. There is a crack on one side but this appears to be on the outer surface and does not penetrate all the way through.

In keeping with the rustic style of the pot, there are scuff marks and odd knocks all over but these add to the naturally weathered charm of the piece and it is a very attractive piece still.
