Tall Banded White Ironstone Antique English Pitcher

This is a rarely available tall banded white ironstone English dairy jug dating from the early part of the 20th Century. 

These tall white banded ironstone pitchers are highly sought after and therefore difficult to source. This is understandable, given their simple & elegant appearance, and the versatility of their use around the home. Originally designed as dairy jugs, they also double up as wonderful flower vases, or rustic kitchen utensil storage. They also look stunning sitting simply on display.

The jug is in good clean condition. There are light age spots and staining from where the jug has been used for milk or cream, which is particularly notable on the pouring lip and base rim. There is a firing fault on the top outer side, where the pottery was chipped at the time of production. This has been there for around 100 years though and doesn't affect use of the jug in any way. The pouring lip also has a fine and small hairline crack, but this isn't overly notable.

This is a rare example to find and is a beautiful shape.
