Stunning Rare Antique Victorian Vivid Blue and White Ironstone Ham Stand
A stunning and rare example of a banded turquoise and white ironstone ham stand, dating from the mid to late 1800s, with crazing and tea coloured staining, giving it a rich timeworn antique patina.
For those who like ironstone pieces stained and weathered, then this Victorian ham stand is the perfect item. This is a rarely coloured ham stand, with stunning turquoise banding and nicely detailed gilt edging.
Used in grocers and butchers shops at the time, they would have been used to display the different hams available for sale, with the ham bone being placed in the hollow middle.
The glaze on this antique ham stand has crazed all over, and has taken on a rich tea stained colouring. This is notable all over but is more notable on the underside, where the staining is more notable.. There are some scuff marks but otherwise the ham stand itself is in excellent condition and has no chips or cracks.
