Oh how I love a stapled plate or platter! And on this example you can see them on both the front and back of the piece, so there's no dilemma about which side is best suited to display.

Dating to the 19th Century, it has a beautiful hand painted blue floral motif in the centre and a remarkably delicate border. Old staple repairs were quite common before glue was widely available, and shows how treasured pieces like this were. This old repair now gives the platter a unique charm.

Aside from the obvious repair work, there is wear and small chips t the edge of the platter. But it is in solid condition. The plate has wire tied to it to enable it to be hung on a wall if desired. It could be removed but I would recommend that care is exercised in doing this as the wire is quite firm.
