A beautiful example of a mid to late Victorian pewter food cloche.
Featuring a decorative handle of berries and vine leaves, plus a lipped patterned border towards the base, this pewter food cover stands out in the level of detail it features.
Although there are some light surface scratches and one small dent on one side, it is also in remarkably good condition, especially considering it is over 150 years old. There is an old sticker on the inside of the cloche (which could be soaked and removed), plus there is some oxidsation to the fittings here too. Most notably, the maker's plate which keeps the handle fixed in position is not now readable except for the name of the piece, an 'Oval Dish Cover'. It may have been made by Maw and Sons.
A wonderful addition to the kitchen for any keen cook or kitchenalia fan.
