This is fabulous example of an antique 19th Century large grain sieve, recently part of a museum collection and consequently in excellent condition.
Made of elm, this is a large and imposing antique piece. The museum label has been left on and consequently provides great information about the provenance of the piece. It was originally part of a set of three which belonged to Ashington Mill in West Sussex. The set then made its way to a Kent school before being passed to a local museum.
With a rich dark patina, this sieve is in excellent condition. It is in excellent original condition, with a fine wire mesh across it. The mesh has some light debris from use in the past but this is the only flaw.
Pieces like this make fantastic decorative features on a wall in the kitchen or in a boot room or utility.
Diameter, 45.6cm; Height, 11cm
