This is a quality piece of antique treen kitchenalia dating from the nineteenth Century.

This Victorian hardwood butter roller has a lovely mellow colour to it and is very deeply carved. Butter rollers would have been used to decorate hand made butter. This example has a deep decorative geometric pattern, which also has layering within it, plus a pretty border. All of the carving is crisp and defined still.

Antique butter stamps like this look lovely displayed as part of a kitchenalia collection. They are also excellent used in the modern kitchen as biscuit stamps. They work particularly well on shortbread.

The butter print is in excellent overall condition, with a lovely worn patina to the wood. Complete with its original wooden fittings, the roller still moves well and would be very usable.
