A nice rustic example of an early 20th Century French bentwood grain measure, designed to measure out half a litre - demi litre.
With nice art deco black typography across its front, this measure was designed to weigh out grains and pulses. The triangular maker's mark of Boisellerie Leger Poitiers appears on its base.
The measure is in fair condition with no significant breakages to the wood and still with its original fittings. The wooden banding around the bottom of the measure has split slightly, perhaps where as a result of coming into contact with water previously. However, this isn't significant. And although the metal banding around the top has oxidised over time, the indent showing how the measure was validated as correct can still be seen.
A lovely country piece to have on display in the home as part of a kitchenalia collection.
