Rustic Extra Large French Stoneware Colander

Standing on three raised feet, this is an impressively sized and beautifully rustic colander or strainer bowl.

Finished with a brown glaze, the shine on it is fantastic. It's a perfect and unusual decorative accessory, ideal for displaying plants in. But it is also immensely practical still, it's extra large size lending itself to a range of uses in the kitchen. At each side of the bowl are two large curved handle.

Dating to the late 19th/early 20th Century, this pierced bowl has suffered some light knocks and wear in its time, no doubt from regular use. There are therefore some light chips in places, which are mostly notable on the handles and on the edge of the top rim.

However, it's a sturdy and heavy piece still and these flaws add unique timeworn appeal.
