An unusual example of an antique set of French iron game hooks, dating from the early 20th Century.
Designed to hang recently caught wild animals after hunting, this rustic set of hooks, sourced in France, is a great solution for those interiors which don't have the space for a round crown of hooks.
With lovely detailing above each of the six game hooks, and featuring two birds atop the central two hooks, this is a highly decorative antique piece.
These game crowns make excellent rustic decorative features in the home, especially in the kitchen or a boot room. They are great for hanging kitchen utensils, pots or cloths from. Or alternatively this would also make a fantastic feature in the garden.
This set of game hooks is in good solid condition. It has been exposed to the elements through its life and so does have oxidisation and wear all over. But this adds a unique patina and it is still a usable piece. The hooks have suffered some wear and knocks in places, so are a little bent and askew in places, although nothing substantial and they are all firmly fixed in position. There are also holes on each side of the back bar to attach this to a wall.
