Rustic Antique French Ironstone Cheese Mould by Sarreguemines

This is a fantastic naturally timeworn example of a rustic French stoneware cheese strainer, known as a faisselle mould, made by Sarreguemines. 

Dating from the 1920s, this pierced cheese mould is in worn condition, but it oozes charm for this very reason. The pot has a light coffee coloured staining, due to its many years of use in contact with dairy produce. There are also patched of discolouration. There are no cracks on this piece but there are some chips to the top and base rims.

It is still a very usable pot, though and is an excellent way of adding a rustic feel to any interior, perfect for use as a tea light holder, soap dish or trinket pot.
