This is a lovely rustic and timeworn French butter brick mould, with a fabulous patina, dating from the 19th Century.
A lovely large size, there is carved image of a cow with a gate post at each side. Often, the carvings in these moulds helped to identify where butter was produced, in this case it was most likely represented the dairy farm which produced the butter. As the carving is quite naive, I suspect this was produced for a small scale farm.
With its rustic patina, this would look beautiful simply sat proudly on display to give a rustic touch to your interior kitchen styling.
There are some surface knocks and scratches, plus different levels of polish and varnish can be seen, including where they have worn to create a natural shabby chic look. However, otherwise it is good order.
