Rare Small Antique Ironstone Kleen Ware Kitchen Storage Jar - Cherries
Rare Small Antique Ironstone Kleen Ware Kitchen Storage Jar - Cherries
This is a listing for a highly collectable and rarely seen small sized red banded ironstone storage jar for "CHERRIES".
White ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. The smaller sized jars, like this example, are now very difficult to source and are highly sought after by collectors. This is understandable, as it is a very sweet size.
Made by Sadler in the 1940s, this delightful kitchen storage canister was part of the Kleen kitchen ware range, which came in a variety of different colour ways. The pillarbox red colour of this jar is stunning, and while there are some little specs of wear, the colouring is still very vivid.
Complete with its original lid, this pot is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, crazing or chips, and just some minor scuff marks in places which are mostly notable on the base rim and the underside of the lid. There is some minor wear to the lettering and red banding but overall it is still very clear.
