This is a very pretty French terre de fer compote dish, dating from the late 19th Century, with a gorgeous timeworn charm and patina, and in the rarely seen Salins Paysage pattern.
With a stunning mark on its base, this is a beautiful and highly sought after design, showing two birds sitting atop a wooden frame looking through to a wintery village scene. The compotier has lots of timeworn colouring, adding to its charm.
These are such decorative pieces for the home, ideal for fruit in the kitchen or dried flowers elsewhere.
This compotier has a beautiful patina, with lightly stained crazing and buttery colouring all over. This complements the blue decoration. There is also a tight and fine hairline on the left hand side of the rim, but this is stable. And there are no chips.
