Rare Deeply Carved Antique Victorian Breadboard - Wheat Ears, Rosettes & Ivy

A beautiful and rarely seen example of a deeply carved antique Victorian carved English breadboard.

Oozing charm, this breadboard has a beautiful rich colour and patination, which compliments the carved border beautifully. The border features elaborate carving of rosettes, ivy leaves and ears of wheat, which together symbolise everlasting love and fidelity. Boards like this were often made as wedding gifts. 

A highly decorative piece, the board also largely sits flat and so is still very usable as a cutting board or platter. There are knife marks on the board from use, plus some light marks to the centre. An old age crack has been filled but this isn't overly notable.
