This is a wonderful piece of Scandinavian folk art - a large wooden 19th Century salt box featuring an outstanding carved geometric design, which is in exceptional condition. 

Typical of Swedish folk art at the time, this wooden box has a carved geometric pattern across it. A beautiful floral motif adorns the top half, featuring on each lid and the central column. The base of the box features a different pattern and a wonderful border pattern. The intricate nature of the carving really stands out, especially as this carries through the the edging of the lids and base.

With its original fittings still, this box is excellent and sturdy condition. A lovely insight into Swedish history, this is a wonderful decorative feature in its own right. 

Apart from some light marks and stains to the wood in places, the box is in very good overall condition. There are two old worm holes to the base but the whole piece has been treated. 

A beautiful rustic piece.
