Rare Antique White Ironstone Copeland Jelly Mould - Tennis Bats, Balls & Net
Rare Antique White Ironstone Copeland Jelly Mould - Tennis Bats, Balls & Net
A wonderful and very rarely seen example of a late Victorian white ironstone jelly mould, produced by Copeland, with a tennis theme.
Dating from the late 19th Century, pictorial ironstone jelly moulds like this are very rarely seen. This tennis scene is a very rare subject and features two tennis bats surrounded by balls at the base, with the sides of the mould depicting tennis nets. It's such a fun subject and is particularly apt for anyone who is a fan of tennis.
Considering its age, this mould is in remarkably good clean condition with cracks. There is some light crazing to the inside of the mould in places. Most notably, there are two chips on opposite corners on the outside rim of the mould. One of these can be seen slightly when the mould is on display but they are not overly notable and do not affect use of the mould in any way.
Antique and vintage jelly moulds are highly collectable. Not only are they still usable today (with care), with the making and presentation of a jelly an event in itself, but they also look fabulous as part of a kitchenalia collection.
