Rare Antique Victorian Wirework Cooling Rack

A versatile, useful and decorative late 19th Century extra large wirework cake cooling rack with ornate loop top and rarely seen rail bar.

Dating to the late 1800s, these Victorian wire work cooling racks are extremely scarce. The style is typical of the Victorian era, with the finish decorative while also highly useful - the raised looped section around the edge of the rack was designed to prevent cakes from falling off the edge. To add interest, the wire work has been looped, as have the feet it stands on.

This cooling rack is a great piece of vintage kitchenalia to have in the home and is a rarely seen piece, especially with the addition of the brass bar on the top which was intended to add stability.

In overall very good condition for its age, all of the wirework is in tact and it is in sturdy condition. The feet at either end are slightly raised but this doesn't affect use and is stable enough for display and use. There is a build up of some residue to the main rack, as well as a number of small patches of oxidisation but this is to be expected for its age.
