Rare Antique Victorian White Ironstone Jelly Mould - Leaping Hare or Rabbit

A very sweet and rare example of an antique Victorian white ironstone jelly mould, with a rarely seen Spring theme featuring a leaping hare or rabbit. 

Likely to date from the mid to late 19th Century, this is a beautiful mould with a very rarely seen subject. The leaping hare is very sweet, with nice detail of the grass and a lovely ornate border.

At around 150 years old, this mould does show some signs of its age. There is some light crazing and staining all over, plus some small chips to the edge of the base rim. Most notably, there are some small hairlines around the top of the mould but these are all tight and the mould is structurally sound.  

Antique and vintage jelly moulds are highly collectable. Not only are they still usable today (with care), with the making and presentation of a jelly an event in itself, but they also look fabulous as part of a kitchenalia collection.
