Rare Antique Victorian Scale Plate Advertising Scottish Cooperative Wholesale Society Ltd

A stunning Victorian extra large white ironstone scale plate made for the Scottish Co-ooperative Wholesale Society Ltd in the nineteenth Century. This would look fabulous simply on display and also makes an excellent cheese plate.

The plate features a fantastic black underglaze transfer print logo for SCWS across its centre, with figures representing justice and mercy, looked upon by two cherubs.

It is also one of the largest circular scale plates I've come across, measuring 33.5cm in diameter and 1.3cm deep.

This plate has suffered some wear and damage in its lifetime. Most notably, there is a small repair on one side. This is mostly evident on the underside but a small section can also be seen on the top surface. There are also two tight hairlines on this piece, but they are fine and it is structurally sound. There is light crazing all over, plus some minor age spots, but on the whole it is a very clean example and is very usable.
