Rare Antique French Pie Hatelet Skewers - Sea Themed Selection
These are examples of rarely seen silver plated French pie markers or hatelets, in a variety of different sea themed shapes which date to around 1900.
Sourced from France, these were used as pie markers in large elaborate pies, either to the show guests which type of flling was in the pie or to add a decorative finishing touch. They were also used as brochettes, or skewers for grilled food.
Silver plated, they have tarnished and discoloured over the years although they could of course be polished if desired. The decorative ends are all hollow. With the exception of the shell, they are all marked.
