Rare Antique French 'Moutarde Bocquet' Advertising Pot by Sarreguemines
This is a listing for a very rarely seen antique French white ironstone advertising pot for “Bocquet” mustard, by Garcet and Tremblot, dating from the early 20th Century.
Like all French ironstone pots, this is a sturdy and heavy antique advertising pot. It is a very rare subject, and the simple black Art Deco style typography printed across its middle is typically French in style. The text highlights the name of the makers, the date of the company's creation in 1855 and their location in Yvetot.
These old white ironstone French pots are very collectable, making wonderful display items which are also perfect for use as small bud vases.
Originally discarded, this pot has since been dig up from an old dumping ground and therefore has notable signs of its age through staining and discolouration. However, remarkably, the pot itself is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Dark staining of varying shades blends around the pot, creating a unique timeworn patina, but the underglazed black transfer print typography is very clear still, and there is also a Sarreguemines maker's mark on the base.
