This is a beautiful timeworn example of a very rarely seen French confiture advertising pot for Ch. Robardelle, dating from around 1900, in a large two pound size.

Dating from the very start of the 20th Century, this French ironstone advertising pot is a scarce survivor. Its natural timeworn appearance adds a unique charm, and contrasts beautifully against the fantastic teal green under glaze transfer print of the Ch. Robardelle logo.

The Robardelle jam or confiture pots came in a range of different styles. This teal coloured transfer is a real beauty, with the framed logo wrapping itself around the front of the pot. The ironstone pot itself is very heavy and sturdy, a signature of the French examples, despite the fact it is a bit knocked and bruised.

The transfer logo on this pot is still very clear, but the pot itself has worn over time, likely from many years undergrund. There is heavy timeworn staining all over. There are two hairlines running down the side and back of the pot but these are stable. Most notably, it appears the bottom of the pot may have suffered some burn damage, with a crack running around the bottom rim and two chips to the pot here too.

Despite this damage, though, this is nonetheless still a beautiful example. The lovely teal coloured maker's mark of the KG Luneville factory can be seen on its base, together with the original wax seal.

A beautiful decorative antique.
