Sourced from the Naples region of Italy, this is a stunning extra large antique Italian confit pot with gorgeous wear and patina to it, dating from the late 19th Century. It's one of the largest of these pots that I've been able to source and is an impressive looking piece.
An Italian country piece, it would have been used for preserving different foods in a countryside property. It has taken some knocks and wear in its lifetime but this has added natural timeworn charm.
These stoneware pots are perfect for modern day decorative use. They add a rustic charm to a kitchen as a utensil pot. Their large and imposing size also looks great used for display purposes anywhere in the home. And the neutral hues of this pot work well in any interior.
The condition of this confit pot is excellent, with no significant chips or cracks. There are light chips to the glaze all over, from where it has been used. This is more notable on the handles, around the top rim and on the inside. The white glaze on the inside of the pot has also crazed.
