A delightful white Edwardian ironstone butter or preserve pot complete with its original lid and leather strap, which would have been part of a larger picnic set in the early 20th Century.

This ironstone pot is a lovely little snippet of history, when large picnic sets were often strapped to cars for days out. This pot was designed to hold either preserves or butter, with the ironstone having a cooling effect.

Considering the age and history of this piece, it is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is light crazing all over and a few age spots, but nothing substantial. It is rare to see these surviving with their original leather straps, since these would have worn through regular use and were easy to lose. This strap has wear from where it has been used but is still in workable condition.

Perfectly usable still, this is a lovely small sized pot for use in the kitchen. But its unique deisgn means it is also a great and unique addition to an ironstone or kitchenalia collection.

Height, 10cm (to top of strap (9cm to top of pot); Width, 8cm
