A rare Edwardian butchers or grocers ham stand, featuring prominent advertising for Parnall & Sons.

This antique white ironstone ham stand dates from the early 20th Century . It carries a rarely seen black underglaze belted advertising logo for William Douglas & Sons, a Scottish company  who supplied equipment for the meat trade. the signature Parnall & Sons black transfer maker's mark, who were renowned shop outfitters at the time. The advertising logo features their address at Putney Wharf, London.

Ceramic ham stands were commonly used in shops in the early part of the twentieth Century. They were used to display the meat provisions shops had available for sale.

This is a heavy and quality antique piece of ironstone with no chips or cracks, and is in overall in good, clean condition with no crazing, chips or cracks. The main signs of wear are some age spotting on the side where the logo is, plus wear to both rims.

A great piece of antique advertising which would fit well in a kitchenalia collection, and which is also a great display piece to use when entertaining, for example as a carving stand.
