Rare Antique Edwardian Banded White Ironstone Nutmegs Storage Jar

This is a listing for a highly collectable and rarely seen small sized Edwardian banded white ironstone storage jar for either "NUTMEGS".  

White ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. The smaller sized spice jars, like this example, are now very difficult to source and are highly sought after by collectors. This is understandable, as it is a very sweet size.

Unfortunately, this example is missing its lid. The pot itself also shows some minor signs of age, with some lightly stained crazing all over. The top rim has also suffered some minor wear, with age marks to the top rim plus a couple of minor cracks (although these are stable and the pot is in sound condition). 

However, the black 'Nutmegs' label on this pot is still very clear. For those wishing to display this item in their kitchen, it's a great piece and is also a fraction of the price it would have been if it was complete with its lid.
