Rare Antique Early 20th Century Frank Cooper Marmalade Pot with Oxford Scenes
Rare Antique Early 20th Century Frank Cooper Marmalade Pot with Oxford Scenes
This is a fantastic example of a rarely seen preserve pot featuring scenes of Oxford to highlight the connection of the city to Frank Cooper marmalade.
Dating from the early part of the 20th Century, the one pound sized pot was made by renowned English marmalade producers, Frank Cooper, which is based in Oxford. On its front, the pot features an illustration of "The High", with some well known Oxford landmarks. The back of the pot displays the crest of the University of Oxford.
In excellent condition, there are no chips or cracks on this pot. There is some light crazing all over, plus some grease marks around the top and base from where it has been used. However, these features add to the timeworn charm of the piece. The imagery and colouring is also still very clear.
A lovely example and a must for any collectors of the different types of Frank Cooper pots.
