This is a fantastic example of Swedish folk art in the form of a hand painted wooden plaque, which would have been fixed to a marriage crate.

Dating from 1865, it would have adorned a decorated dowry chest or crate which were in common use in Sweden at the time. In classic hand painted design, and a gorgeous mix of the original paint in complementary blues, greens and yellows, it's a very decorative item. 

Apart from the holes where this would have been originally fixed onto the box, this plaque is in excellent condition. It would make a unique and interesting feature in any home.
