This is an incredible antique French find and is a unique one-off piece.

Carved into a wax base, this marzipan mould dates to the mid 19th Century, when it was designed for use as a marzipan mould to decorate a happy couple's wedding cake.

It is rare to find large examples like this which are as exquisitely carved as this. Featuring song birds, ornate floral decorations, a central bell and an elaborate border itself decorated with rosettes, this is a very special piece. The symmetry in the patterns on each side of the heart really stands out. With the date of the wedding (1845) and the couple's initials, M and S, carved into the bottom section of the mould, this piece was intended to be cherished well after the wedding day itself.

Considering this is around 180 years old, it is in remarkable condition, with the detail of the carving untouched. There are a few knocks and scuffs to the outside of the mould but there is no significant damage.

At the top, two hanging hooks have been added should you wish to hang this on a wall.
