This is a stunning aged and weathered antique French terre de fer platter, dating from the late 19th Century, with a gorgeous timeworn charm and patina.
With an indented age mark plus the Gien mark on its base, this smaller sized oval plate dates from the late 1800s. It has a beautiful pink transferware thistle pattern, which blends beautifully with the natural weathered look and buttery colouring the platter has taken on over the years,
Apart from the timeworn crazing and light staining, this platter is otherwise in good condition considering its age. There are no chips. There is a small star crack to the glaze on the base but this does not penetrate through the piece.
A beautiful antique French platter which is still very useful for serving food from but which also is a stunning item to display when not in use.
