A gorgeous example of a vintage French dairy bowl, otherwise known as a pancheon, with a fabulous glazed interior and pouring lip dating from the early to mid 20th Century.
These rustic bowls were used traditionally for bread making, and would still be perfect for similar use today, with the ceramic glaze ideal for mixing, binding and proving dough. However, these rustic bowls look great and can serve a range of uses in the home.
A rustic piece, it's still in great condition. You can see indents from the worker's hands where the pottery was shaped from the time it was produced. There is some wear and scufffs to the interior glaze and some wear to the base but there are no cracks or chips.
Length, 32cm across handles; Width, 30.5cm; Height, 12cm
