A lovely aged and rustic stoneware confit pot, which is the perfect decorative accessory for the home. A French country piece, it would have been used for preserving different foods in a countryside property.
Dating from the 19th Century, this large stoneware jar has a rustic feel to it, including its muted tones and the wear to the glaze inside the pot, which would originally have had a burnt orange and yellowy tone to it.
Perfect for modern day use, they add a rustic charm to a kitchen as a utensil pot, or look great used for display purposes anywhere in the home, as a display for flowers, or perfect for storing artists brushes.
The condition of this confit pot is very good, with no cracks or chips save for a small knock to the base rim. Although the internal glaze has worn, this doesn't affect its use in any way.
Height, 22.5cm; Width, 25.5cm across ears (diameter of pot is 23cm)
