Large Glass and Ormolu Antique French Frame

A very pretty example of a harder to find larger size of an antique French ormolu photo frame, dating to the early part of the 20th Century.

These are such decorative pieces. With a ribbon bow banner top, ball feet, and an easel back, these were quality pieces to have in the home when they were produced. The design of the frame was intended to give maximum emphasis to the image inside, with a glazed panel with bevelled edges. There is a hook for hanging or an easel back to stand the frame up.

The frame has suffered some light wear over the years. It is still a highly usable and decorative piece but there is a small chip to the bottom right hand corner of the glass. The ormolu has also now faded and lightly tarnished over time, and there are also some light scuff marks to the glass in places.

On the whole, though, this is without doubt a very attractive piece.
