Large Gilded Antique French Frame

I adore this weathered and worn antique French frame.

With a gilded border, this frame stands out with its pretty mounting border, with floral and swag details. This has worn and weathered over time, and has dissipated across the frame, creating a unique and very attractive patina.

The frame itself is in good sturdy condition. There are some small losses to the gilding in some of the corners but nothing substantial. The beautiful relief work on the frame makes it stand out. The paintwork on the edge of the frame has worn away over time, and there are also some small knocks.

Although the frame is missing its backing, this could easily be replaced to use as a photo frame again (suitable for a photograph 13cm x 9cm). I think this is also a highly decorative piece which could be used to frame dried flowers. It's also a very nice item to display on its own.
