A delightful large family sized example of the 6 inch Grimwades Quick Cooker Pudding Bowl, dating from the early 20th Century.
This pudding bowl dates to the 1920s. Produced by Grimwades, this company was renowned for using all available space on their kitchenware ranges to advertise their products and provide practical tips and advice on how to use them. The lid on this example is especially rare, with the top including detailed instructions for use of the bowl and the base featuring advertising for four different products in their kitchen range: the fly-proof milk jug; the patented pir dish; the safety milk bowl and the hygienic jug.
Made of white ironstone, these pudding bowls were designed to steam puddings from the inside (with a funnel providing direct heat to the middle of the bowl) as well as the outside, therefore resulting in an overall quicker cooking time. Hence its name as the ‘Quick Cooker’.
It is in very good condition, with no chips or crazing, and is very clean. There is a very small crack to the side of the lid but this is solid and the lid is structurally sound.
Height, 11cm; Width, 18.5cm
