This is a lovely piece of antique treen kitchenalia dating from the late nineteenth Century.

This Victorian hardwood butter stamp features a rare subject of an acorn and oak leaf.  Stamps like this would have been used to decorate freshly made butter, and were also used by farms at the time as a mark of where the butter was produced. With mellow tones, this stamp has a large carved border, with the detail of the acorn and oak leaf still very clear.

Antique butter stamps like this look lovely displayed as part of a kitchenalia collection. They are also excellent used in the modern kitchen as biscuit stamps. They work particularly well on shortbread.

The butter print is in good condition for its age, with a lovely worn patina and colouring. There are some small stain marks across it but these add interest to the colouring. Most notably, there are some old worm holes. There are a few on the front towards the bottom of the print but these have been filled in and aren't overly notable. They are more notable on the back and handle but they have been treated. There is also some mild wear to the edge of the stamp but overall it is a very lovely piece still.
