Large Antique French Terre de Fer Pink Lidded Soupiere

A stunning example of an early to mid 20th Century example of a terre de fer lidded  French soupiere, made by Boulenger of Choisy le Roi.

This is a beautiful piece, featuring a pink and red pattern to the base and lid, with the same colour also featuring on the handles. The tureen has wonderful scuplted handles and features, which help to give the tureen a stunning and stand out look to it. It is large enough to be used to serve food for a number of people too.

It has aged over time, with some patches light crazing and buttery tones of discolouration. No doubt this is the result of use over the years and it adds a unique timeworn patina. The top rim of the dish has a few tight hairlines, but these don't extend significantly onto the main base of the dish. There is also a chip to the underside of the lid.  

These tureens are excellent to use for display around the home and are perfect for adding a French country or rustic farmhouse touch to any interior.
