This is a beautiful piece of St Uze pottery, an extra large jug with the distinct deep cobalt blue floral pattern sweeping around it.
An early 20th Century piece, it carries the St Uze Terre D'Acier mark to its base. I love the bulbous shape of this, paired with the pouring lip standing out at the front of the jug.
This pitcher has suffered a knock in its time, with a crack visible on the top inside rim. However, in a testament to the durability of this wonderful pottery, this hasn't penetrated all the way through and is in a stable condition.
Apart from the crack, there is some aged discolouration which is notable across the jug and on the tip of the spout. There are also two firing faults on the handle, although these have been there since the time of production and are also stable.
Height, 19.5cm; Width, 21.5cm across handle of pot; Depth, 18.5cm across pot
