Large Antique French Blue Transferware Ironstone Tureen

A lovely example of an early 20th Century example of a lidded transferware French Tureen.

This is a beautiful piece, featuring a deep blue floral transferware pattern to the base and lid. The tureen has wonderful scuplted handles and features, which help to give the tureen a stunning and stand out look to it. It is large enough to be used to serve food for a number of people too. Made of ironstone, it is a sturdy piece.

It has aged over time, with some patches discolouration and wear in places, although this does add a natural timeworn charm to the piece. Most notably, there are scuff marks and age spots to both the handles. There is some staining to the inside rim, plus wear to the base rim. There is also a very fine crack to the glaze where the handle joins the lid, although this is likely to be a firing fault rather than later damage and the piece is very stable. 

These tureens are excellent to use for display around the home and are perfect for adding a French country or rustic farmhouse touch to any interior.
