A wonderful and rarely seen example of a two piece early 20th Century carved wooden butter mould, with a swimming swan.
This is a great piece of antique kitchenalia, perfect for giving a farmhouse feel to any display. This is a rare survivor in complete original condition, with both halves and the dowel which joins them together in full working order. The mould itself is a large and deep size with beautiful details of the swan's features and the rippling water beneath. The butter would have been a centrepiece decoration for the table in itself.
This mould is in excellent condition. Both halves still fit together perfectly. While there are some age cracks to the outside of the mould, the carved mould itself has no damage. It is slightly discoloured, but this is from where the mould has been used. Having previously been part of a collection, there is also some writing on the outer casing, likely to be a catalogue number.
Length, 11cm; Depth, 10cm (each side is 5cm in depth); Height, 9.3cm.
