A wonderful example of a rarely seen antique 19th Century large white ironstone steeple jelly mould.
A design with origins in the 17th Century when steeple creams were moulded in conical wine glasses, the design gained popularity in later years for the amazing and very funny wobble caused by the stepped design.
This example dates to the 19th Century and is in a shape which was produced by Copeland, although this piece is unmarked. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are some mild surface scuff and age marks, most notably to the tip and base rim. But overall it is a good, clean example.
Height, 19.5cm; Width, 18cm at widest point
